Lunarshine Launches RunnersWithVision.com and HelpBunny.com
4.18.04
Lunarshine Web Design and Development of Portsmouth, New Hampshire announces the launch of RunnersWithVision.com and HelpBunny.com.
Runners with Vision is a non-profit organization based in Massachusetts, dedicated to helping
blind individuals achieve personal goals and overcome physical challenges while experiencing the joy of running. Blind runners are teamed with able-bodied runners who guide them
through runs of varying distances while connected via lanyards.
Runners with Vision founder Douglas MacLean explains, "In November of 2000 I had the privelege of running and completing the New York City Marathon with a blind runner attached to my wrist. Of the 27 marathons I have run,
this was by far the most satisfying. Watching my partner cross the finish line in Central Park was a magical moment."
Mr. MacLean has found an interesting way to attract attention to his cause. For several years, he has worn a pair of bunny ears as he runs his marathons, helping earn him the nickname "The Bunny." In April, 2004 he once again adorned the now famous fixture of the Boston Marathon
while also wearing a shirt promoting HelpBunny.com, the sister site of RunnersWithVision.com.
"The bunny ears always attract attention. I'm glad to have these sites available now to fully promote our cause and goals for Runners with Vision. Lunarshine has helped us take us to the next level of our endeavors. The
donation of their services has been greatly appreciated. Lunarshine continues to be an invaluable partner and resource for our web marketing efforts."
Runners with Vision is hoping to expand its program through donations of time and money, and aiming to provide all blind runners the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon every year.
